About 1 in 10 women will be referred to a gynaecologist during thier lifetime due to an abnormal pap smear or an abnormal appearing cervix. Rest assured that the vast majority of women do not have cancer of the cervix, however having the cervix reviewed by a certified colposcopist is essential. Some women will also be referred with vulval complaints; chronic itching, cracking of skin or odd lumps and bumps. While this is commonly a confusing and scary time, rest assured that Dr Davenport understands your fears.
